The T-cut is just a temporary product so you can't seal it in I'm afraid.
Your best bet is probably to touch it in with a non-metallic paint similar to yours. Using a colour darker than the actual paintwork often works better on dark cars. Using the actual colour, especially if it is metallic will often stand out really badly. The metallic flecks often sink lightening the bottom of the touch in, so it's best to use non-metallic sometimes.

Usually, the warmer the better. It seems to help the detergents work.

However, on a really hot day it may be best to use cold water to slow down evaporation to prevent dirty water drying on your car.

I'm afraid waxes don't really offer any scratch protection, although sealants like Diamondbrite and Supagard do seem to have a small effect... but not enough to protect from anything much more than wash marks.

I'm afraid there are no easy answers.

Hi All,

At the beginning of September I am fortunate enough to be taking delivery of a new non-metallic black Audi A3 - the first brand-new car I have ever had. Although I am looking forward to the experience, I am sure I am going to get annoyed with the car getting scratched etc.

My car is kept in a residential parking space at the back of my house, and whilst I live in a nice area, there are kids around ....in my opinion, the biggest killers of a nice paint job.

They're not BAD kids and they definitely don't set out to damage cars on purpose, but my current 1999 VW Passat has lacquer scratches on it from where grit from footballs has rubbed against the paint. I have chosen a flat black colour on purpose as I was under the impression that it can be buffed more easily.

I must say that once the honeymoon period of owning my passat wore off, I got bad at keeping it waxed - maybe I should have had a valeting company do it every so often. I washed the car in auto-car washes, although for what it's worth I did get the programmes with wax (not that i think they make much difference!) The fact that I live by a Quay doesn't help too much either with the seagull poo!

I see other cars around with (almost) flawless paint, and I am sure not all these guys have garages (though I appreciate that I never look at everyone else's cars like i look at my own).

My question is, if I keep the car well-waxed, does it offer any scratch-resistance? If so, what is the best product to use please? And apart from installing a Mosquito or moving house, does anyone else have any tips to help keep it scratch free?

Thanks in advance for any answers!
Ajoy.

Don't forget to use rust seal before completing your repairs on any bodywork where the paint has chipped. Make sure that that awful rust doesn't get into those vulnerable places.

Headlights can be polished too. Although you may not get them 100%.

If you aren't confident in the valet companies in your area, you could try a reputable bodyshop. I'm not suggesting you get a respray, but bodyshops do more machine polishing than most valeters.

It does sound like machine polishing will be the only solution, and paying a body shop to do it will likely be cheaper than going out and getting all the gear to do it yourself.

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you, I have had a stomach bug, then I got the flu, and I'm only back at work today... i have a lot of catching up to do!

Anyway, what I suggest you do is try to take photos of the damage to your car and then send them to any companies that you would like to do the work.
One of the problems that static sites like us face, and that mobile sites face is wasted journeys.

Mobile companies lose money if they travel out only to find they can't do anything when they get there.
Fro us it's different, we don't lose money, but we don't like to have disappointed customers driving half way across the country only to have to return home with the same old problem.
